What flowers of our hearts are ready to bloom?
We are always so quick to point out the crab grass of our souls.
What flowers are there, that we can water and grow?
Thich Nhat Hanh always said of our compost piles:
“They give us the opportunity to turn our garbage, into flowers.”
What a metaphor for our lives.
We are big compost piles,
creating more fertile ground everyday in which to plant goodness.
We cry over all that has died or spoiled in our lives.
These things needed to create the ground, the soil for growth.
Flowers, garbage, compost – new soil.
New soul, a chance for new beginnings.
Let us use this day for good.
Let us plant seeds in this new and fertile soil,
and let the rain swell our seeds of new beginnings.

The rain is softening everything, preparing us for new growth.
What will emerge?
Who will I be after the rain stops?
Will I allow something new to emerge?
Or
Will I keep below the surface?
Can it actually soak down to my core and allow me to germinate?
Which seeds will I choose to grow?
Sadness and limitations?
Self judgement?
Infinite beautiful messy goodness.
